Junkspaceoddity is a practice for research, design and critical cartography – operating between disciplines, scales and media.

Junkspaceoddity is run by Theodor Reinhardt – a researcher, designer and cartographer educated between Germany, the Netherlands and Japan.
His interest lies in the material and operational complexities of and between territories, infrastructures and planetary systems.
His work is centred on critical cartography and extends to spaces, objects, graphics, videos, exhibitions and texts.
He holds an MSc cum laude in Architecture from Delft University of Technology / Borders & Territories.

Ongoing long-term work includes From Million Years to Milliseconds - a research project on geologies and temporal becomings of data infrastructures, in collaboration with scientists, researchers and designers.
Together with Negar Sanaan Bensi and Shaghayegh Vaseghi, he is conducting research On Thirst and Mirage - a study of conflictual territories and ecological precarity in the Iranian-Afghan border region.
Together with Tomasz Dudek, he co-founded the Nature-Culture Collective for agential materialism and critical cartography.

His work is published in, among others, Datapolis, DETAIL Magazine, Atlantis Magazine, Modi Operandi and ARCH+, as well as exhibited at Countryside: A Place to Live, Not to Leave; MAPS. New Cartographies, New Narratives; Indigenous Intelligence and the 17th Venice Biennale of Architecture as part of Dogma.
He is selected as Agent of Change as part of the 2026 International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam.
Alongside invited guest critique at TU Delft and Berlage Center for Advanced Studies, he has taught at Willem de Kooning Academy Rotterdam, Amsterdam Academy of Architecture and Università Iuav di Venezia.
